  • Statement released after Chelsea make moves to sign striker, Lampard confirms possible deal,£40m Diop move, Defender set to sign up
LYON have issued a club statement expressing their desire to keep Moussa Dembele, with a move to Chelsea on the cards.
There has been ALOT of transfer speculation in the media over the past few weeks linking Chelsea with a number of possible deals, and a possible number of signings in order for Frank Lampard to improve his side.
And it is very obvious that the Chelsea boss is keen to add another striker to his side, as TAMMY ABRAHAM cannot do things on his own, while Michy Batshuayi is seen more of an impact player off the bench, while Olivier Giroud is seemingly on his way out of the club.
And that has led to speculation in the media claiming that Chelsea are closing in on a deal for the impressive Dembele, who is being chased by all the top clubs in the world after another impressive start to the new season.
It has been believed that Chelsea have made contact, LAMPARD HAS ADMITTED HIS INTEREST IN A DEAL, and even some reports claiming that A VERBAL AGREEMENT has been reached with the players representatives.
Lyon don’t want to lose their star man this transfer window and will fight to the very end in order to keep Dembele, but their latest statement has done nothing to stop all speculation, as the French side stopped short of confirming he will stay at the club this January in a recent statement
THE STATEMENT READ: “Olympique Lyonnais has taken note of certain information relayed by the media suggesting that Moussa Dembele could interest other clubs during this transfer window.
“OL would like to reaffirm its wish, as in the summer of 2019, to keep Moussa Dembele.
“The club has full confidence in Moussa and counts in particular on him to build a successful team for the seasons to come.”
Frank Lampard knows it would be a calculated gamble to let Olivier Giroud leave Chelsea without signing a replacement.
There has been a lot of transfer speculation in the media over the past few weeks about the imminent departure of striker Giroud, who has become very unhappy in the Chelsea side this season after falling behind Tammy Abraham in the pecking order.
Abraham has proved himself to be a top Premier League striker, leading the clubs scoring charts with an impressive 14-goals in the Premier League this season, and rather than sit on the bench on a weekly basis, Giroud has shown a desire to depart the club for pastures new.
Giroud’s agent is understood to have agreed personal terms with Inter Milan, with ex-Chelsea manager Antonio Conte keen to recruit the World Cup-winning striker.
And although Lampard does not want to let Giroud leave with finding an adequate replacement, Lampard has admitted that the Frenchman could still depart the club this transfer window.
“There are a lot of things in football and the squad that are a risk, otherwise you would line up three or four of the best players in each position,” said Lampard on the SUN website.
“We have some adaptable players in our team who could take up different roles, so that would have to come into my thinking at that point.
“Ollie (Giroud) has been great and I respect him for that, and that slightly comes into my thinking as well.
“The club will always come first. If I feel the decision to keep everybody in the January window, that will be my decision too.
“Nothing is done yet so we can probably broach these questions if and when something is done.
“Everyone’s talking about it [a possible Giroud transfer] so I’m not going to beat around the bush. I think his agent has spoken to the club, but until anything’s done he’s a Chelsea player.”
Reports have claimed Chelsea are close to agreeing a deal to sign up talent Tariq Lamptey.
Chelsea have one of the best young sides in the Premier League after Lampard was unable to sign any players during the summer transfer window, and the former Blues star has proved many critics wrong that his side could compete this season.
And another talent is about to get a new contract with the club, as 19-year-old right-back Lamptey, who made his senior debut for Chelsea when he was introduced in the 59th minute of their 2-1 win over Arsenal on Sunday, is about to get a new deal with the London club.
Lamptey’s current deal at the Blues expires at the end of the season but he has impressed over the past few weeks, and now the AThletic has claimed that he will sign a nice big five-year deal to ward off any potential interest from outside the Blues.
Frank Lampard told reporters on the SUN website that they were in talks with the young man over a new deal. he said: “We’ll see. He’s talking with the club and hopefully he feels a bit of love from today as we’ve parachuted him in.
“He was actually on his Christmas break when we called him in yesterday. He trained and then played.
“I’d seen him when I was doing my coaching badges and you do a lot of hours with the academy and youth team. I saw him train a lot and I know he has a different dimension as a right-sided wing back.
“He has pace, low centre of gravity and can go by people. Of course he wants to work on his end product and all the last bits.”
Chelsea are poised to make a £40million January move for West Ham’s French defender Issa Diop, but have been warned about a possible transfer deal.
Since news broke in the media a few weeks ago that Chelsea will indeed be able to delve into their transfer kitty and land a few players, there has been all sorts of transfer speculation about whom will come in, who will be signed to improve the side and who Frank Lampard will turn too.
But there is a feeling in the media that Lampard needs to spend some serious money to help improve this young CHELSEA back-line and add a bit more power, a bit more presence and a bit more quality to that defence.
And recent reports have claimed Chelsea have been watching Diop, who has three and a half years left on his West Ham contract, for some time, with Lampard keen to add defensive reinforcements to his youthful team, and a bid is now imminent.
Diop, who is also a target for Tottenham, has impressed this season even while West Ham struggled under previous manager Manuel Pellegrini.
But former West Ham stopper Rob Green reckons that money is better off being spent elsewhere rather than on a centre-half, although he insists Diop is a very talented centre-back.
“I think PSG last season were looking at him,” Green said on BBC Radio 5 Live.
“Big, tall centre-half with pace, good on the ball.
“Who wouldn’t be interested if you’ve got those sorts of credentials? I think it’s an interesting one.
“He’s on the bench tonight, why? We’ve not worked that one out if he’s been that good.
“It’s one that realistically CHELSEA, where’s their priorities?
“Are they looking for another centre-half? They’ve already got three good young centre-halves, do they need another one? I don’t know.
“But it’s seemingly got a little bit of legs hasn’t it.”
